On June 4, 1896, Henry Ford took his first four wheel vehicle out for a drive and every since then fathers have been perfecting their ability to pack the car for a family trip and with five kids my dad was the best. He could arrange the luggage, mom and us kids in such a way that everything had a place and fit like a dream. Now none of us could move in this perfectly arranged DeSoto station wagon, but since we didn’t have set belts back then that worked out fine.
Pauline Durrett Robertson, 89, was born April 17, 1922, the middle daughter of Mary Eddie Jones Durrett and Walter Lucius Durrett, in their home on 19th Street in Amarillo.
